(Commish): Welcome to Doug Anderson of RotoExperts
(Commish): Welcome to Mike Kuchera, The Fantasy Man
Mike Kuchera: What's up guys! Thanks for the invite!
(Commish): No problem, Mike
(Commish): Welcome to Tim McLeod of RotoRob
Tim McLeod: evening gents and tks to Geoff and crew for hosting
Jason Pliml: Hey guys. I've got a joke - how many closers does it take to wrap up a Mets game?  Anyone?
(Commish): No problem, Tim
Tim McLeod: all of them?
Jason Pliml: nope - the answer is one more than they have :)
Tim McLeod: LOL
Tim McLeod: Fuentes is still out there
(Commish): Don't think they can afford him anymore
Jason Pliml: I'm still waiting for a few major moves.
Tim McLeod: hows the weather tonite in Central Michigan?
(Commish): Balmy
(Commish): Oh wait - COLD AS HELL!
Tim McLeod: likewise, windchills tonite here -42 to -50
(Commish): I never thought I'd feel better about living in Michigan.  Thanks, Tim
Doug Anderson: windchill +78 here in Tampa
(Commish): Welcome to Scott Swanay of Fantasy Baseball Sherpa
Tim McLeod: tks Doug, needed that
(Commish): Welcome to Brian Pelowski of Rotowire
(Commish): Just a note that Fantasy Baseball Sherpa will be one of the sites providing mock draft projections for MDC this season
(Commish): As will Todd Zola's Mastersball
Scott Swanay: Hi guys!
(Commish): We have our first question from AIM: how does your strategy change drafting in a 12 team league vs. a 15 team league?
Todd Zola: yes
Todd Zola: next question
Todd Zola: there is a bit of scarcity in 15-team, virtually none in 12-team
(Commish): I personally try to be a little more conservative early in a 15-teamer; less chance to make up a bad early pick later
Scott Swanay: Position scarcity is slightly less of an issue with 12-team league.
Jason Pliml: in a 15-teamer, you have to reach for players you want since it's a long way back to you.  Plus, certain categories are quickly tapped out
Mike Kuchera: I'd say in a 15 team league, you want to draft more towards scarcity!
Tim McLeod: agree on scarcity, and trying to force the draft a bit more
Doug Anderson: Beat the punch on runs for certain types of players
Mike Kuchera: Be the guy who starts the closer run, the catcher run, and this year... the SS run!
Doug Anderson: Exactly
Todd Zola: probably more likely to get a better closer in 15 than 12 as now EVERYONE is after the free agent closers
Mike Kuchera: Doug and I are on the same page ;)
(Commish): Welcome to the "Big Dawg" Chris McDonnell of FantasyBaseball.com
Jason Pliml: so did anyone else here use sabermetrics to pick their wife?
(Commish): Welcome to Nick Minnix of KFFL
Mike Kuchera: I went with position scarcity for my wife!
Chris McDonnell: hello all
Mike Kuchera: lol I dont really know what that meant!
Jason Pliml: is she eligible at catcher?
Doug Anderson: multiple eligibility?
Mike Kuchera: Normally ;)
Nicholas Minnix: hey guys
Tim McLeod: not I, based on her baking chocoalte chip cookies and tolerance for baseball
Jason Pliml: I settled on her tolerance for me.
Tim McLeod: lol
Todd Zola: granted, its a limited sample, but based on the wives of industry people I have met, most everyone has married up -- gotta believe scouting has something to do with it
Tim McLeod: valid point
(Commish): Since nobody bit the first time, I'll ask again: How did the Winter Meetings change your cheat sheets?
Tim McLeod: I bumped Farnsworth right to the top
Jason Pliml: I really liked the Laird signing.
Todd Zola: honestly?  They didn't because it was an exercie in futility to worry about it before -- and still is
Chris McDonnell: You don't want to talk about my wife's WHIP?
(Commish): Welcome to David Gonos of OPEN Sports
Doug Anderson: Honestly not a whole lot, no huge fantasy implications
Tim McLeod: am listening and will get the wife over here if pertinent
David Gonos: hey guys, happy drafting!
(Commish): Question from AIM: can ryan braun go .305/40/115/20 this year?
Alex Cushing: Winter Meetings didn't affect my rankings.
Scott Swanay: Taveras & Wigginton non-tenders were most interesting bit of news last week.
Alex Cushing: Maybe bumped Burnett up one or two spots
Tim McLeod: Saito as well as defined things much clearer in LA
(Commish): Welcome to Brandon Funston of Yahoo!
(Commish): Welcome to Nate Stephens of Rotoworld
Mike Kuchera: For every extra million CC got, I bumped him down a spot!
(Commish): Full house!
(Commish): Thanks, experts
Todd Zola: Utley's injury and Holliday moving are the biggest factors so far
Nate Stephens: Gentlemen
Doug Anderson: .305 might be the hard part for Braun, the power is there.
Tim McLeod: agreed
Alex Cushing: Yes, he can
Nate Stephens: Yes, he can
Brian Pelowski: i think he can
Doug Anderson: Pitchers have adjusted (somewhat), now it's his turn
Todd Zola: yes he can, but that is at the hgh end of thelikely scenarios - I wouldn't pay for it
Scott Swanay: agree with Todd.
Nicholas Minnix: i agree
Scott Swanay: Wouldn't draft him in the 1st round of a 12-team league.
(Commish): I'll throw another one out there: Anybody that wouldn't take Hanley No. 1?
Todd Zola: not me :)
Scott Swanay: I'd take A-Rod first.
Chris McDonnell: ARod
Doug Anderson: I would, but I certainly wouldn't argue with Pujols
Nate Stephens: Should this be like the real draft, where i wait
Alex Cushing: Ha
Nate Stephens: so comments can get posted?
Todd Zola: I do see a couple of yellow flags with Hanley, but as of now, not enough to sway me
Tim McLeod: A-Rod as well, think top 3 can be easily interchangeable
Nicholas Minnix: No. 1 in baseball is not especially special
(Commish): Yes, comments can get posted
Doug Anderson: I do expect his avg. to keep traveling south
Nicholas Minnix: A-Rod, Pujols, even Wright could have an argument
Todd Zola: Reyes too
Nicholas Minnix: A-Rod Pujols and Hanley are the ones tho
Nicholas Minnix: true
Tim McLeod: agreed, takes care of speed early
David Gonos: agreed with doug, pujols is a better bet as a No. 1 in my mind. but both aren't bad at all!
Tim McLeod: and relatively short position
Nicholas Minnix: you don't miss out on anything, necessarily
David Gonos: yet, here he is dropping to five! interesting. arguments can be made to swap all five of those picks.
Nate Stephens: Shortstop is so terrible, I considered Reyes at 2 pretty strongly
Nicholas Minnix: i think sizemore could go 1
Nicholas Minnix: why not
Tim McLeod: ba a bit of a concern
Chris McDonnell: not this year
Todd Zola: Sizemore can end the season #1 for sure -- takes a HUGE SET to take him there though
(Commish): Question from AIM: i know its early but who is your first round bust?
Todd Zola: and you have to cover the BA later
Nicholas Minnix: true
Todd Zola: sorry Brandon, Hamilton is mine
Chris McDonnell: Josh Hamilton
Nicholas Minnix: per ADP, hamilton makes sense
Brandon Funston: Haha -- I was Hamilton-less last year, and fairly bitter about being an outsider
Todd Zola: GREAT player -- too dependent on Kinsler and Young to be on base and still has only 1 full season under his belt
Tim McLeod: the numbers without Kinsler were not aweinspiring
(Commish): We all agree that the best landing spot for Tex is Boston?
Todd Zola: agreed -- and Kinsleris being downgraded -- witness that he was #1 OVERALL pre injury and he has not been drafted here yet
Brandon Funston: Yes, thankfully Kinsler and Young are still on the team. You deal with Kinsler's august injury when the time comes
Nate Stephens: As a Red Sox fan, Yes to Tex in BOS
Todd Zola: if Kinsler is a question, so is Josh
(Commish): Question from AIM: where does manny end up this year?
Scott Swanay: I'd rather see Tex in NYC.
Nicholas Minnix: yes, best place for tex is boston, and with 8 yrs, 200 mill...
(Commish): Gonos with a Ray - shockers.  What's next, a South Florida Bull?
Nate Stephens: ha
(Commish): I'd guess Manny ends up back with the Dodgers
David Gonos: Ross Gload will be play first base for me.
(Commish): Is Gload from USF?
David Gonos: yeah, i think he's like the only decent guy to make the majors recently
David Gonos: "decent"
(Commish): Question from AIM: what's the earliest each of you is willing to draft your first SP?  the latest?
Tim McLeod: it is all relative to how far they fall
Nicholas Minnix: earliest? probably round 4 or 5
Nicholas Minnix: latest? 8, 9
Nicholas Minnix: depends on a lot
Brian Pelowski: i'd be willing to take on in the 3rd round but not here where it looks like everyone is focused on hitting
Todd Zola: it is a mistake to think of it as "early" or late.  The proper way is to pick out a tier, and draft one from that tier when that tier is going, regardless of the round
Brandon Funston: I'd take the right guy in the 3rd round
David Gonos: personally, i like to wait until the 6th or 7th rounds to draft my first SPs, then I draft a number of them quickly.
(Commish): Don't see as much value at SP early on
Tim McLeod: seems to be a lot of depth this year, a lot of bargains in later rounds
Todd Zola: in a mixedleague, your staff is defined by your SP%, SP6 and sP7
Todd Zola: meant SP5, SP6 and SP7
Doug Anderson: The drop in offense has spread the value out on starting pitching
Nate Stephens: Im reuniting Manny and Ortez
Todd Zola: Doug -- are the same Doug from the old usenet rsbf days?
Nicholas Minnix: haha
Nicholas Minnix: someone has to
Doug Anderson: and drama ensued
Nicholas Minnix: i agree tim, plenty of bargains to be had
(Commish): Question from AIM: why the drop off in santana?  typically in expert drafts he doesn't slip passed the first or second pick of the 2nd round...why the drop in top SP?  just depth?
Tim McLeod: lots of depth at back end of drafts
Todd Zola: Johan is noy as heads and tails above the rest anymore
Jason Pliml: Lenny just had a long dissertation on Santana an starting pitching on the live radio show
Doug Anderson: could approach 300 K's...with 8 wins :-)
Scott Swanay: I'm sure I'll hear it later.
(Commish): Question for Chris McDonnell: not to jump on Big Dawg but in general do they feel that Pedroia is being drafted too high (late first early second round) this year?
Doug Anderson: Personally I think Pedroia could be in for a huge drop
Brian Pelowski: sorry guys, got dumped out
Todd Zola: Pedroia is being WAYYYY overdrafted
Nate Stephens: Id never bet against Pedroia, but  Iwouldnt take him there either
Scott Swanay: Think Pedroia, Utley, Roberts, & Phillips are roughly equal in value.
(Commish): Question from e-mail: Does anyone believe last year's power outage was a fluke?  If not, how are you adjusting your expectations for a "power hitter"?
Todd Zola: last year's power was exactly the same as 2007
Todd Zola: call it PED testing, whatever, its just a new baseline
Scott Swanay: Think there are more top SPs at the top of my rankings this year due to that.
(Commish): Viewers may make comments to or ask questions of the experts in two ways: 1) E-mail: expertdraft@mockdraftcentral.com; 2) AIM screen name: mockdraftcentral
Scott Swanay: Still, wouldn't be surprised to see a 50 HR season this year (from Howard).
David Gonos: yeah, power has been dipping for a few seasons now, and speed is on the rise, making the super speedsters less valuable in my mind.
Todd Zola: especially in a 12-teamer
Todd Zola: you can still use a rabbit in a 15-teamer
Tim McLeod: agreed
David Gonos: damn. knew i should have pulled the utley trigger on my third rounder
(Commish): Question from AIM: Presuming you just feel that Matt Holliday's stolen bases get cut (half?) how does he fall from first round to second round (previousl home/away splits don't project that big a difference)
Scott Swanay: He shouldn't have fallen into 2nd round.
Nicholas Minnix: lots of good values already IMO
Todd Zola: or at least early 2nd
Nicholas Minnix: i disagree, i know holliday is talented, but his away splits have to be a big concern
Doug Anderson: He's moving to an extreme pitcher's park. I don't like him nearly as much
Todd Zola: its not an extreme pitchers park
Jason Pliml: Wager time - Over/Under, number of times Ichiro get HBP by Mariner's pitchers.
(Commish): Question for Doug: Ideal landing spot for Dunn?
Nicholas Minnix: rd 5 or 6
Nate Stephens: Ramirez usually goes alot later than that, alot of people are sleeping on him
Scott Swanay: I'd say round 10 for Dunn unless you're in an OBP league.
Nicholas Minnix: that's awfully high for a half season of data
Todd Zola: not in early NFBC mocks -- he's loved by that crowd
(Commish): He's guaranteed power, I can see it - 40-plus homers in four straight seasons
Todd Zola: really did not like the way that playued out -- too early for the guys Iike and not a fan of the guys "at value"
(Commish): Question from AIM: does a trade help or bhurt peavy's value
Nicholas Minnix: largely depends on where he ends up
Jason Pliml: Peavy should get more wins anywhere he goes.  May give up more runs though
Nate Stephens: I think it'll wash w/ the win upgrades
Nicholas Minnix: i think it's not going to be drastic unless he moves to the AL
Jason Pliml: depends on park
Scott Swanay: Probably helps marginally - more run support.
Nicholas Minnix: and even then, drastic is relative
Nicholas Minnix: value on markakis, it seems, good pick
Nate Stephens: Markakis is great there
Tim McLeod: tks
Tim McLeod: I was almost tempted to go with Mauer and load up on catcher, almost
(Commish): No problemo
(Commish): Question from AIM: any specific players you view as a fluke from last year?  cliff lee?  aaron harang? position players?
Scott Swanay: Mike Aviles may be overvalued.
(Commish): Our good friends Lenny Melnick, Paul Greco and Tony Cincotta are doing a live broadcast of the draft at - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fantasybaseballguy/2008/12/16/Fantasy-Baseball-EXPERT-Mockdraft-1
Todd Zola: note to the viewers with the #1 or #2 pick in a 12-teamer, if you want a STUD catcher, you need to take one at the 4/5 turn or you will miss out
Tim McLeod: I went a bit early but wanted that stud and with 8th pick sort of shakes down that way
Nate Stephens: I echo Todd's sentiments
Todd Zola: that was my conundrum -- I don't like the back end catcher as much as I have in year's past
David Gonos: shit
(Commish): Question from AIM: projection for Ludwick?
Scott Swanay: Drop in AVG, other #s similar
Tim McLeod: agreed
Jason Pliml: 30 hr, .285, 5 sb, 95 rbi
Todd Zola: with the caveat that the average has the potential to REALLY drop and cost him playing time
Nicholas Minnix: could see a definite severe drop in avg for ludwick
(Commish): Jeter at 6.8 - thought I'd never see the day
Nicholas Minnix: haha
Mike Kuchera: I gotta have at least one Yankee on my team!
Doug Anderson: Ludwick's numbers actually improved in the 2nd half. He may be able to repeat.
(Commish): Todd - ideal landing spot for Furcal?
Todd Zola: I don't think there is an ideal spot -- his game is pretty much the same in any park
Todd Zola: I though the Cardinals from a pure baseball sense, but that isn't happening obviously
(Commish): I'll throw a question out there: Where do you draft the guy who threw his shoes at George W. Bush yesterday?  Guy has velocity, but his control is a bit off
Scott Swanay: He may be out of commission for awhile too.
Nicholas Minnix: tulo, ha, was looking for him to be under a bit
Nicholas Minnix: haha
Nicholas Minnix: well, he could be a quality no. 5 fantasy starter
(Commish): I liken him to Daniel Cabrera
Scott Swanay: Or Ryne Duren.
Todd Zola: he needs to develop a second show toss, most major leaguers can handle a shoe at 95 mph
Nate Stephens: Nuke LaLoosh would be appropriate
Nicholas Minnix: haha
Scott Swanay: Put him in the Cardinals OF w/ Skip Schumaker.
Tim McLeod: pitcher run time guys?
Scott Swanay: Pitchers don't run well - just ask Chien-Ming Wang.
Nicholas Minnix: lackey was a fantasy no. 1, low end, for a few years
Nicholas Minnix: not a bad no. 2
(Commish): Question from AIM: anyone regretting a pick yet?
(Commish): Not a bad two at all
Nate Stephens: Arod over Reyes, given all the power that was available later
(Commish): Interesting....
Chris McDonnell: I should have taken McLouth over Ludwich
Nicholas Minnix: i thought seriously about mclouth over hart
Nicholas Minnix: two years vs. 1
(Commish): McClouth and I are from the same town - Muskegon sure has produced some talented people
Jason Pliml: is McClouth ugly too?
(Commish): No, he's dreamy. Damn him
(Commish): Question from e-mail: how different will drafts be come march?
Todd Zola: it will be warmer
Nate Stephens: Not very
(Commish): I wouldn't bet on that
Tim McLeod: hopefully much
Nate Stephens: it'll be noticeable in the later rounds
Todd Zola: up until this point, not a whole lot --
Jason Pliml: Some players will clearly be different, but overall, I think there will be a lot of similarities.
(Commish): Think a lot of closer situations will be clearer
Scott Swanay: Better idea of when Utley will be back.
(Commish): Still a lot of questions there
Scott Swanay: More news on Pujols.
Nate Stephens: Are both Jason and Geoff here?
Jason Pliml: BJ Upton could move significantly
Jason Pliml: Yes
Nate Stephens: or is Jason talking to himself with the Commish link
Jason Pliml: That would be lame
(Commish): Yeah, we're both here
Nate Stephens: but funny
Mike Kuchera: Come March, in drafts w/o experts, starting pitchers and the top notch closers will be gone much earlier!
(Commish): I wouldn't put it past Jason, though
Jason Pliml: Yeah, I'm clever like that
(Commish): Question for Todd Zola from e-mail: For Todd:  Why Pena over Delgado?
Jason Pliml: I agree with Mike.  SP & closers will tend a bit (probably a round or so) earlier
Todd Zola: looking specifcially for power and I think he has more HR potential albeit with a lower BA, but I want the HR as I took an excess of speed early
Jason Pliml: I like that team name - Excess of Speed
Todd Zola: that's why going from a list is dangerous -- its about he stats as well as value -- I need the stats now
Scott Swanay: I agree w/ Todd - I did the same thing earlier in picking Soto over Mauer at Catcher.
Scott Swanay: Needed the power more than the AVG
(Commish): As we slow down a bit, I'd like to open the floor for our experts to plug their fine sites and what they have going on
Tim McLeod: over at Rotorob we're just finishing up a keeper rankings that should be up by mid-week.
Mike Kuchera: I just launched a brand new Fantasy Player Database at www.FantasyPlayersExpress.com ! Its a little raw but its fully operational and FREE to join and post!
Scott Swanay: Fantasy Baseball Sherpa - preseason projections quantify position scarcity; in-season player forecasts updated daily!
Scott Swanay: All customizable.
Mike Kuchera: Experts can promote their sites/columns/podcasts while fantasy managers can interact! Check it out!
Todd Zola: well, I'm relaunching Mastersball -- check out the welcome message at www.mastersball.com
Nicholas Minnix: KFFL has free player news year round. We just released a handy new Hot Stove series
(Commish): You can view Fantasy Baseball Sherpa's projections for this draft at: http://www2.mockdraftcentral.com/drafts/89373/projections
Nicholas Minnix: Give you the early scoop on Hot Stove changes and what they mean for fantasy
Tim McLeod: Nate's a believer I see
Tim McLeod: was hoping he'd fall to 12
Nate Stephens: Best catching prospect in a long time
Tim McLeod: agreed
(Commish): Don't talk crap about Ben Davis
Nate Stephens: or Ben Petrick even
(Commish): Not a good thing to be a catching prospect named Ben
(Commish): Question from AIM: projections for joba
Scott Swanay: Think he doesn't pitch more than 150 innings, which holds down his value.
Nate Stephens: We have him at 160/13/3.30/1.18/175
(Commish): Question from e-mail: Was anyone else ready to pounce on Wieters before Nate took him?
Brian Pelowski: i was hoping Wieters would slide a bit more
Tim McLeod: rd 12 here
Mike Kuchera: I might of jumped on Weiters in the 13th or 14th
Mike Kuchera: ...if he lasted
Todd Zola: Wieters ADP is going to go up with every base hit he gets in the spring
Doug Anderson: Wieters was my next pick
Nicholas Minnix: yeah, thats awfully risky on weiters, know he's a big talent
Nicholas Minnix: but
Doug Anderson: Wieters is Piazza-like
Scott Swanay: On pure talent, he probably belongs near top of list of Catchers, but hard to project major league success for a rookie catcher.
(Commish): Does Wieters play the air guitar as well as Piazza?
Scott Swanay: See J.R. Towles last year - I know he isn't in Wieters class as a prospect, but still.
(Commish): Werth is a good pick there
Jason Pliml: Ahhhh.  Jayson Werth, my old friend
(Commish): When does that restraining order expire again?
David Gonos: catchers have it tough -- have to learn soooo much more than a normal rookie. very difficult for a hitting catcher to sprout like Soto did.
Scott Swanay: Will be interesting to see if Jeff Clement improves this year.
(Commish): Viewers may make comments to or ask questions of the experts in two ways: 1) E-mail: expertdraft@mockdraftcentral.com; 2) AIM screen name: mockdraftcentral
(Commish): Like Ethier there
Scott Swanay: Thanks, Geoff.
(Commish): Lot of good value at OF this year
Tim McLeod: yes
(Commish): Comment from AIM on Chris Young: how the mighty have fallen
Scott Swanay: Which one? ;-)
Scott Swanay: Was in one draft last year where they went back-to-back - the poor tracker was confused.
Todd Zola: exactly when was he ever mighty?
Nate Stephens: I think they mean the pitcher?
Todd Zola: a liner to the face will do that to you
Nicholas Minnix: haha
Scott Swanay: At least he's been drafted already!
Todd Zola: and he was also never "mighty"
Scott Swanay: Below average in every sense of the phrase.
Todd Zola: but there is a law that says someone always has to say "how the mighty have fallen" and helton may not get drafted
Scott Swanay: The law of dives?
(Commish): Just a note to our viewers - we're targeting mid-January for our next expert draft
(Commish): Keep an eye on the MDC forum for all the info on that
(Commish): Viewers may make comments to or ask questions of the experts in two ways: 1) E-mail: expertdraft@mockdraftcentral.com; 2) AIM screen name: mockdraftcentral
(Commish): Question from AIM: projection for dempster
(Commish): Question from e-mail: What kind(s) of improvement does everyone expect from Carlos Gomez?
Todd Zola: I don't have a line for Dempster, but there is not a whole lot that screams FLUKE -- a little regression from last year, sure -- but if healthy, he'll be within range of last year's numbers
Nicholas Minnix: PT still a concern
Doug Anderson: PT issues fog the picture a little
Scott Swanay: By March we'll know if Delmon Young is still in MN and how that will affect other Twins' OF's PT.
Scott Swanay: Agree w/ Todd on Dempster - we'll see.
(Commish): Like the Greinke pick
(Commish): I love when Lenny Melnick and I agree
Todd Zola: I'm not listening -- is Lenny letting the other guys talk?
(Commish): Yep :-)
Nicholas Minnix: like those picks - garza, johnson
Todd Zola: I love Josh Johnson, but I had to let him go to see where others value him ;)
(Commish): My one-legged grandma could get open on the Cleveland secondary
Scott Swanay: Didn't realize the Indians had a secondary
(Commish): Thome seems like a good pick there - still has some pop
Nate Stephens: wow, scherzer was #1 on the queue
Nate Stephens: usually doesn't happen this late
Alex Cushing: got you back for taking my catcher
Alex Cushing: :)
Scott Swanay: Q w/ Thome is AVG and health.
(Commish): Nice gamble on Swisher, too
Todd Zola: sort of a 2 for 1 pick therfe - if one hits, it works, but we are at a point the positions of CI and OF are fairly fungible in 12-mixed
(Commish): There's some good gambles late
Nate Stephens: If they leave him alone, Lind will hit
Nate Stephens: but it's JP, so who the hell knows
Nicholas Minnix: reynolds can be a great value
Nicholas Minnix: 35 HRs this late
Scott Swanay: All depends on his AVG
Nicholas Minnix: true
(Commish): Anyone else going to miss the Dunn-Reynolds twosomee?
Nicholas Minnix: but that's two years
Doug Anderson: Pitchers seemed to catch on to him. I don't see him repeating last year.
Todd Zola: or if yiou can handle the average -- pretty sure it will be low
Nate Stephens: if Dunn came back, the D'Backs would come pretty close to the all-time K record
Scott Swanay: They should trade for Cust.
(Commish): Who holds that record?  My guess would be the early-90s Tiges
(Commish): Tigers*
Scott Swanay: Brewers have been pretty bad as a team recently - Marlins too.
Nate Stephens: I've looked it up before, but I'm drawing a blank
Brandon Funston: Ugh -- virtual memory meltdown lands me Hideki Matsui -- guess it could have been worse.
(Commish): Just doesn't seem right to be doing baseball in December, does it?
Scott Swanay: There's never a bad time for baseball
Todd Zola: yeah, we should have done this last month :)
(Commish): Consider this a primer for this week's magazine drafts, Brandon
Nicholas Minnix: crap, totally missed wilson
Nicholas Minnix: should've taken him
Brandon Funston: Seriously -- need the practice
(Commish): Question from AIM: late-round sleepers you really like?
Todd Zola: if we answered, they would be awake
Tim McLeod: pretty much my thought
(Commish): Howabout some guys you already drafted you like more than others?
Tim McLeod: i like Wandy for Rd 17, am a believer
Scott Swanay: Lots of guys who could move into Closer situations.
Scott Swanay: Loved Nate's Joey Devine pick
(Commish): Yeah - lots of closers situations to be determined
(Commish): None of the bad teams have a catcher, it seems
(Commish): closer not catcher
Nate Stephens: Francisco, Arredondo, Devine, Qualls -- I like all of these gambles later on
Scott Swanay: Nice pick, Tim - love Kouzmanoff there.
Tim McLeod: was watching and watching and he was still hanging in
Tim McLeod: tks
(Commish): Yo, Doug?
Nate Stephens: I like Smoltz alot this late; stick him on the DL and pray (assuming we have DL spots)
(Commish): Like the last few picks
Doug Anderson: Crisp is great pick
(Commish): Agreed
(Commish): Weeks will probably go 30-30 since nobody expects anything
Nate Stephens: If you don't like the Crisp pick, challenge him to a boxing match
Nicholas Minnix: love crisp, good pick
Nate Stephens: Greene is interesting, like to see what he can do outside of Petco
(Commish): Agreed
(Commish): Good pick on Renteria, too
Nicholas Minnix: career .293 or so hitter in the NL
(Commish): He's an NL guy
(Commish): Some decent SS options late
Nicholas Minnix: yeah agreed
(Commish): Poor Pronk
David Gonos: ugh. poor me.
Nate Stephens: We have Pronk at $10
David Gonos: but this late, sure. it was all because of his injury!
Nate Stephens: and we're still debating if it's too high
David Gonos: nice, i like.
Todd Zola: anyone who works with Amber isn't allowed to say "poor me"
Jason Pliml: :)
(Commish): I've heard that said about me, as well
Chris McDonnell: You are the ladies man Geoff
Jason Pliml: uh, that was anyone who works with you is allowed to say "poor me"
(Commish): You know it, Big Dawg
David Gonos: haaaaa, amber looks like Brad Garrett off the air. It's all special effects.
(Commish): You going to be in Tampa, Chris?
Nicholas Minnix: geoff, we'll get the results emailed to us?
(Commish): Yeah, I'll send it out in the morning
Chris McDonnell: Not sure.  Maybe
Nate Stephens: As always, bang up job MDC -- thanks for having us Jason/Geoff
Tim McLeod: Tks to Jason, Geoff, Lenny and all for partaking, has been a fun evening and all the best in '09
(Commish): Thank you for joining us
David Gonos: thanks again for teh invite fellas
Nate Stephens: Anthony Reyes gets no respect, still on Saint Louis!
(Commish): Big Dawg - you should go; we can pick up some more chicks
(Commish): Oops - we'll make him an Indian.  Thanks for the catch, Nate
Nicholas Minnix: aw reyes, good pick
Nate Stephens: No prob
Nate Stephens: Never thought I'd be happy someone is away from Dave Duncan
(Commish): As we end things, I'd like to thank all of our experts and most importantly all of the viewers
(Commish): Special thanks to those who sent in questions
Mike Kuchera: Thanks for the invite Geoff!
(Commish): No problem, buddy
Scott Swanay: Thanks for organizing, Geoff & Jason!
Nate Stephens: Off to listen to Lenny
Nate Stephens: ha
Brian Pelowski: why not a run of TEX catchers ?
Nate Stephens: 3 straight Texas catchers
Doug Anderson: We're as confused as they are.
Scott Swanay: Poor I-Rod.
