(Commish): Welcome to Jeff Boggis of Fantasy Sports Empires
(Commish): Welcome to Scott Swanay of Fantasy Football Sherpa
Jeff Boggis: Thanks Geoff!
(Commish): Welcome to Jason McCoy from Stinkball
Scott Swanay: Hi Geoff/Jeff/Jason!
Jason McCoy: Hello all
Jason McCoy: Hi Sherpa
Jason McCoy: Is Geoff the commish?
(Commish): Yes, sir
Jason McCoy: Hey Geoff
Scott Swanay: Geoff, still feeling homicidal?
(Commish): Somewhat
Scott Swanay: Okay, that's improvement.
(Commish): Power went out at the house last night; got to the office this morning and the internet was down
(Commish): Power is still out at the house
Scott Swanay: Ah, no wonder.
Jason McCoy: that sucks dude
Jason McCoy: At least its not the winter
(Commish): If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
(Commish): Good point, Jason
Jason McCoy: I would hate to have no heat in winter being in Michigan
(Commish): Welcome to Marc Caviglia of Bruno Boys
Jason McCoy: Hi Marc
Marc Caviglia: Hello Jason - Hello Geoff - Hello All
(Commish): I'll start with the first question of the night: Who would everyone take at No. 1 in this PPR league?
Jason McCoy: I would take Jones-Drew
Scott Swanay: I'd go w/ Turner or LT.
(Commish): Welcome to Tom Kessenich of Fantasy Sports Magazine and the National Fantasy Football Championship
Marc Caviglia: If I had the first pick I would be targeting Maurice Jones-Drew. He was 40+ catches better than Adrian Peterson in 2008 and should see an even higher rise in 2009
Jason McCoy: #1?
Jeff Boggis: Michael Vick if it were pooches per reception, but probably MJD.
(Commish): Welcome to Paul Charchian of League Safe
Jason McCoy: Hi Paul
Paul Charchian: Hello, everyone!
Jason McCoy: Hi Tom
(Commish): Welcome to John Tuvey of The Huddle
Tom Kessenich: hey guys
Marc Caviglia: Hello Tom
Marc Caviglia: Hello Paul
Jason McCoy: Hello John
John Tuvey: greetings all
Marc Caviglia: Hello John
(Commish): Question from AIM: who are some guys moving up your cheatsheets right now?
Jason McCoy: Ray Rice
(Commish): He seems to be a common one
(Commish): Any predictions for where he'll go tonight, Jason?
Jason McCoy: Roy Williams seems to be clicking in Dallas, he might be worth going for a little early
Jason McCoy: I would say Rice goes round 7 to 9
Scott Swanay: Michael Jenkins moving up mine.
Jason McCoy: I'm cool with that
(Commish): Question from AIM: How do the guru's mentally prepare for these sparring events in front of masses of millions at mdc ?
Marc Caviglia: He wants to promote everyone in the draft and let the listeners know what is going on before he jumps right into things
(Commish): Welcome to Mike Jones of Football Diehards
Jason McCoy: I watch every game from last year over the weekend and then I feed the results into a massive database
Scott Swanay: Prepare by studying depth charts and fasting for 2 weeks prior.
(Commish): Welcome to Chris Jackson of Quest Fantasy Football Leagues
(Commish): Welcome to Brian Swaw of Game Time Decisions
Jason McCoy: Hi Chris
John Tuvey: I follow the Napoleon theory espoused by Casey on SportsNight: #1 Show up; #2 See what happens.
Jason McCoy: Hi Brian
Chris Jackson: Hi all
Brian Swaw: whats up guys
Scott Swanay: Hi Brian - how are things in Chicago?
Brian Swaw: Things are going great...how bout yourself
Scott Swanay: Great, thanks!
(Commish): Question from AIM: which first rounder wouldnt you touch?
Scott Swanay: Chris Johnson.
John Tuvey: Matt Forte
Jason McCoy: I like Chris Johnson. I wouldn't touch Michael Turner
(Commish): Interesting, Scott -- care to share why? Haven't seen him listed as a bust much
Chris Jackson: LT
Scott Swanay: Think there's too much of a risk Chris Johnson falls into a timeshare.
Scott Swanay: W/ the newly-svelte LenDale White.
Jason McCoy: He was in a timeshare last year Scott but you do have a good point
Brian Swaw: Andre Johnson...Schaub scares me
Marc Caviglia: DeAngelo Williams. It's not that I wouldn't touch him, I would just limit my expectatations when drafting him. As you won't be getting 20 TDs like 2008 season
Jason McCoy: I agree Marc
Mike Jones: alright, took a little effort, but caught up on the scroll here. Thanks for the invite, and it looks like everybody is ready to roll
Jeff Boggis: Deangelo Williams will not live up to his first round pick.
Scott Swanay: Larry Fitzgerald is another 1st rounder I'm leery of.
Mike Jones: and of course, I prepare for doing expert drafts in front of millions of FF enthusiasts by doing mock drafts at MockDraftCentral.com
Jason McCoy: I don't see how he could. Fitz is pretty safe to me
(Commish): The Warner injury scares me on Fitzgerald -- good call, Scott
Scott Swanay: I don't believe Warner can stay healthy for 16 games again, and I'm not sold on Leinert, St. Pierre, whatever comes after that.
Jason McCoy: I think St. Pierre would get the start. I just don't think Leinart is tough enough
Jason McCoy: Mentally or physcially
John Tuvey: the MMA training isn't helping?
Mike Jones: wow, a lot of crystal balls in the room I see
Scott Swanay: Ha!
(Commish): Welcome to Nathan Zegura of The Fantasy Consultant
Jason McCoy: I've got brass balls Mike
Marc Caviglia: imagine him standing in a octagon with Anderson Silva
Jason McCoy: Hi Nathan
Nathan Zegura: Thanks! Hey everyone
(Commish): Question from e-mail: you guys have spent a good deal of time saying who you wouldn't draft in the first round. who do you feel is a safe bet?
Scott Swanay: Marc, does Paul want us to pause just in the 1st round?
Nick Pagliuca: Hello
Marc Caviglia: Scott - Yes just the first round
(Commish): Welcome to Nick Pagliuca of Fantasy Sharks
Jason McCoy: I think All Day is a pretty safe pick
(Commish): Nick, could you please pronounce your last name for our broadcast?
Marc Caviglia: He said that should get him caught up , because the show kicks off at the exact same time as the draft
Nick Pagliuca: Pag-lucy
Jason McCoy: I like Steve Slaton a lot as well
(Commish): Agree on Peterson -- No. 1 regardless of format for me
Scott Swanay: I think Forte and Jones-Drew are the safest bets in the 1st round.
Nathan Zegura: My 1st round bust is DeAngelo....no way he comes close to last year's numbers
John Tuvey: so take most of your full minute on the first-round pick?
Jason McCoy: My first round bust is Michael Turner
(Commish): Question from AIM: How do you guys factor in the hold out of Mike Crabtree.....
Brian Swaw: Forte ADP the safest IMO
Jason McCoy: I don't he's a rookie
Marc Caviglia: John - Yes that is correct
John Tuvey: thanks
Mike Jones: funny though that Forte and Slaton's rookie numbers pretty comparable
(Commish): Loving Josh Morgan more and more with Crabtree's holdout
Scott Swanay: Unless it's a very deep league, I'll pass on Crabtree and let someone else deal w/ his holdout.
Jason McCoy: I agree with Scott. Wide Receiver can have a huge learning curve and the holdout doesn't help
Scott Swanay: In this format, I probably wouldn't look at Crabtree until 13th round or so, and I'm sure he'd be gone by then.
Paul Charchian: thank you, nick!!!
Jason McCoy: so much for taking our time
Paul Charchian: I was sweating bullets over MoJo being taken
Nick Pagliuca: Sorry, just came in, didnt know we were.
John Tuvey: I thought Charch showed remarkable restraint
Nick Pagliuca: It was AD or MJD
(Commish): We're going deep tonight, folks. Twenty rounds -- get ready for some deep sleepers
Paul Charchian: Because of the PPR, I think MoJo is the decisive No 1 overall
Nathan Zegura: Crabtree needs to get into camp asap or else he will struggle this year
Jason McCoy: slow down
(Commish): Question from e-mail: what's all the hype over Ray Rice? why should things be any different than last year?
Nathan Zegura: thrilled to get SJAx here..
Marc Caviglia: hey guys please take a minute in between picks to get the Radio show caught up
(Commish): Just a reminder to our viewers that this is a PPR draft
Scott Swanay: W/ Rice we know have a season of NFL experience to go by.
Nathan Zegura: Rice is going to get a lot of touches and all of the 3rd down work at a minimum, so he will get a lot of touches on a team that will likely lead the league in carries again
Scott Swanay: And McGahee proved once again he can't stay healthy for 16 games.
Nathan Zegura: McClain is back to FB, so it looks like McGahee and Rice will see the majority of the RB touches
Nathan Zegura: exactly...McGahee is not durable
(Commish): Question from AIM: what is everybodys favorite drafting position
Jason McCoy: Nope, no Bears jersey
Nathan Zegura: i like either top 3 or bottp 3 this year
Scott Swanay: I don't care re: drafting position.
Scott Swanay: Too many rounds to worry about that.
Mike Jones: The middle of the draft feels safest, as everything always feels within reach.
Scott Swanay: Although from an interest standpoint it's probably more fun to be somewhere in the middle.
Nick Pagliuca: Yup, dont like the long wait until my 2nd pick
Paul Charchian: Like the Moss pick, Nick. Great value at 1.12
(Commish): Question from e-mail: Is B. Westbrook a first rounder if he plays in the preseason at all?
Scott Swanay: No - Westbrook's still too much of an injury risk for me to take him in the first round.
Mike Jones: In Philadelphia area leagues
Jason McCoy: No, I don't think Westbrook will have first round value
Scott Swanay: 2nd round, I'd consider it.
Marc Caviglia: Thanks Paul - Im not all that high on DeAngelo Williams, but tough to pass on him at 2.01
Nick Pagliuca: Nope, there are 12 players I would rather have than Westbrook with age and injury concern.
Brian Swaw: Westbrook is a risk/reward pick in the first 16 picks
(Commish): Westbrook in the second-round is the type of pick that can win or lose a league
Paul Charchian: Marc, good value there too
Nathan Zegura: He has to prove he is healthy and he requires a pick of McCoy later on....could be a great 2nd round PPR steal this year
(Commish): Love Gore at 2.3
Nathan Zegura: or a bust
Marc Caviglia: Nice Gore pick Brian - considered him at 2.01
Mike Jones: Calvin Johnson is a beast at 2.4
Brian Swaw: love him there
Nathan Zegura: here goes the gamble
(Commish): Question from AIM: gore a second round pick in ppr?
Scott Swanay: I'd take Gore at the end of the 1st in this format.
(Commish): Hard to go wrong with a S-Jax/Westbrook start
(Commish): Upside is certainly there
Brian Swaw: late first round pick in PPR..
Nathan Zegura: i'll take that in a PPR league
(Commish): Question from AIM: why is Gore going so much lower than Steven Jackson?
Nathan Zegura: I think Jackson will catch a lot more balls than Gore this year as the primary pass catcher for the Rams.
Nick Pagliuca: Agreed.
Jeff Boggis: The potential loss of Michael Crabtree for the season could also hurt Gore's value.
Nick Pagliuca: Yes, but that wont happen. Crabtree will play
Tom Kessenich: The concern I have with Jackson is Avery's injury. If he's out for an extended period of time, defenses can put 11 in the box to stop SJax. The Ram's passing game could be brutal this year
(Commish): Good point, Tom
Mike Jones: There is zero percent chance that Crabtree passes up a multi-million dollar payday.
(Commish): Don't think Ronald Curry, Laurent Robinson and Keenan Burton are going to stretch too many defenses
Scott Swanay: But even if he signs, Crabtree will probably not be as effective as he could have been.
Tom Kessenich: I don't see any reason to fear the Rams' passing game when Avery's out and it could be several weeks into the season before he's healthy. Foot injuries tend to linger
Nathan Zegura: agreed....S-Jax could catch 100 passes as a result!
(Commish): Don't forget Crabtree missed all OTAs because of injury
(Commish): He's way behind
Tom Kessenich: he'll need to catch 100 passes to make up for all of the rushing yards he could lose :)
Nathan Zegura: i'll take it in PPR...totally agree with ya
(Commish): Our good friends from Fantasy Pros 911 are broadcasting tonight's draft live at: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/FantasyGridironLive/2009/08/11/Mock-Draft-Expert-Draft-4
(Commish): Like Welker there, Paul
Paul Charchian: Welker has the most receptions over the past two years.
Nathan Zegura: love him in PPR
Jason McCoy: Welker is a great pick
(Commish): Think Galloway opens the field even more for Welker to work his magic
Nathan Zegura: wow...the WRs are gone
Paul Charchian: WIthout a doubt, this year, it's harder to get an elite WR than RB
Jason McCoy: yep RB is deeper
(Commish): Question from AIM: how can westbrook drop so far and s. jackson be taken so high if injuries are suppose to be the reason?? jackson misses more games every year
Nathan Zegura: got it ... sorry guy
Nathan Zegura: guys
Mike Jones: it's ok Nathan, but you do have to take a shot
Nick Pagliuca: 4 pts for TD's, thoughts on QB in 3rd?
Nathan Zegura: no problem!
Jason McCoy: I don't know why Westbrook has dropped so far
(Commish): The fact Westbrook is already hurt drops him down, IMO
Tom Kessenich: Brees and Brady are studs. Good value for both in the third
Paul Charchian: SJax vs Westbrook: Age and quality of backup are distinguishers for me
(Commish): Question from e-mail: I'd like to hear some general thoughts on Ronnie Brown's outlook as he is being drafted high in the second tier. Is there value there?
Chris Jackson: Pass on QBs in the 3rd at 4pts
Jason McCoy: I think Ronnie Brown is good value in the 3rd
Jeff Boggis: If it were 6 pts per TD pass, I would take Brees and Brady in round 2, but at 4 points per TD, they are great picks in round 3
John Tuvey: the 4 pts was less of a selling point for me than the uncertainty of the remaining backs. I'd have taken Housh if he were still on the board
(Commish): Brown is either really good or really bad -- killer in H2H leagues
(Commish): Wish he could spread it out a little more
Jeff Boggis: Housh in Seattle is no sure bet.
John Tuvey: no, but in a PPR he's a solid option
Nick Pagliuca: I liked Ronnie Brown the best at that point: Parcells year 2 in Miami, he beefed up that o-line and the running game is the main focus
Chris Jackson: Nice pick on Mcfadden at 4-1
Jeff Boggis: Plus Ronnie Brown is in a contract year and they want to throw to him more this season!
Marc Caviglia: thanks Chris - love the upside and will thrive in PPR format
Nick Pagliuca: Agreed, Jeff
(Commish): Question from AIM: Curious if anyone else is high on mcfadden that high?? hes in a split backfield and hasnt shown anything yet. Would most of you like him over guys left like a Grant or even bush in a ppr?
Nathan Zegura: I think McFadden breaks out this year....i likehim better than Grant in PPR leagues...not in standard leagues
Scott Swanay: My personal preference would be Grant > Bush > McFadden.
Nick Pagliuca: It's hard to trust a RB out of Oakland with 2 other backs there as well
Brian Swaw: Grant is a much safter RB2...McFadden has upside in a PPR format but Grant will get alot more touches
Jason McCoy: Bryant is hurt
Tom Kessenich: would it have killed you guys to not mention Bush until AFTER my pick came up :)
Jason McCoy: I know I hate name droppers
Nathan Zegura: no chance he was getting by me. top 10 PPR back per game every year in the league. I almost took him last round
Tom Kessenich: i was eyeballing him the whole round. 4-6 is crazy value for Bush in a PPR league
Nathan Zegura: not bad for my Rb3/flex
(Commish): That knee is scaring folks off, obviously
Chris Jackson: and Lynch out 3 games - worth it - I think
Tom Kessenich: i don't know why he's struggling with the knee. he lost 150 pounds before camp when he dumped kim kardashian
Mike Jones: good line
Nathan Zegura: 120 of ass
Paul Charchian: rim shot!
Jeff Boggis: LOL Tom!
Marc Caviglia: Paul - nice Manning pick at that spot. Great value considering I have seen him drafted towards the backend of the 3rd
Paul Charchian: I'm shocked he was still there. I think people are just bored of him.
Marc Caviglia: Yea - bored of excellence.
Jeff Boggis: Kim certainly is
Tom Kessenich: i was hoping manning might fall to me, paul. great value at 4-11
Brian Swaw: Ocho in the 5th is great value
Nathan Zegura: i think 85 bounces back...good value in 5th
Tom Kessenich: i almost took him in the 4th but ward was the last RB2 i liked
Nathan Zegura: me too tom
Nick Pagliuca: Not sure how well he is in PPR, but I think Bengals will rebound this year and Chad will have a solid year again
Nathan Zegura: if Bush was gone, I was taking 85
(Commish): Question from AIM: what do i do at 8th pick
Scott Swanay: I'd go w/ Slaton if he were still there.
Brian Swaw: Bush-Chad-VJackson was a tough call for me
Jeff Boggis: I really liked your Vincent Jackson pick Brian.
(Commish): Question from AIM: how close to 07 numbers will brady/moss come?
Tom Kessenich: me too. jackson's not getting near enough love in my opinion
Scott Swanay: I think Brady/Moss will be significantly below 2007 production.
Jeff Boggis: I have Jackson as one of my top 3 sleepers for 2009.
Mike Jones: Tavaris?
Jason McCoy: I think the 5th is too early for Ray Rice
Paul Charchian: Scott, based on your draft and comments, if you win any of your leagues, I'm dead in all of mine.
Mike Jones: oh, Vincent
Brian Swaw: yea Chambers fell off and I think Gates kinda did as well
Scott Swanay: Paul, you've got to stop drafting the felons!
(Commish): Question from AIM: ive seen royal going round 5 -6 a lot. does anyone else see this as a great value pick or just about where he should be?
Jeff Boggis: Vincent Jackson!
Mike Jones: It's a great value, and just about where he should go
Jason McCoy: I think it is about right
Paul Charchian: In a PPR league, it's good value
Nathan Zegura: he is already working out of the slot for McDaniels a la Wes Welker. I think he has 100 catch potential and McDaniels is already raving about him
Paul Charchian: yup, i buy the Welker comparison too
Brian Swaw: Welker but bigger play potential
Marc Caviglia: i didnt mean to take Hines Ward -
Scott Swanay: I think 5-6 is about right for Royal
Marc Caviglia: meant to take DeSean Jackson
Marc Caviglia: but its ok
Marc Caviglia: i will take him
Mike Jones: reach of the draft, who in their right mind would take Hines Ward right there ;-)
(Commish): Question from e-mail: I'm not thrilled with the RB's available at pick #5 if AP, MJD, Forte & Turner go 1-4. Is it crazy to take Andre Johnson #5 or should I still take the highest RB on my board (Slaton or Chris Johnson).
Marc Caviglia: Haha Mike - this guy who can't use a computer. But hey cant complain about 80 receptions
Jason McCoy: I wouldn't go WR at #5
Mike Jones: Well, I personally like to build around a stud WR this year, as I think RB's stretch pretty nicely
Scott Swanay: Depends on format re: pick 5, but I'd hold off on WRs in most formats and go w/ best available RB.
(Commish): Question from e-mail: how will cutler do in Chigago?
Mike Jones: Once they strap it up, and get into the strong medication, Warner will be fine
Chris Jackson: Nice pick with Holmes at 6-5
Marc Caviglia: Cutler will be on the back end of being a QB1. He will have some solid weeks but some weeks in which the offense is fully generated through Forte'
Jeff Boggis: Thank you Chris!
Nathan Zegura: agreed on Cutler....low end #1.
Jeff Boggis: Super Bowl MVP in round 6
Jeff Boggis: and he wants the ball more this season
Chris Jackson: Yeah - great talent at wr for the 6th rd
Mike Jones: I'm sure he'll be the main target of the Steelers 18 passes a game
Nick Pagliuca: Kevin Walter - gonna be a poor man's Welker in Houston?
Nathan Zegura: i would have taken him if you hadnt swiped him. He'll be in the slot more this year
Nick Pagliuca: I like him a lot and the Texans O
Nick Pagliuca: Leon = focus of Jets offense and like him in PPR
(Commish): Will be interesting to see what he can do with more touches
(Commish): Paul taking a Viking; Tom taking a Packer -- homer round!
Jeff Boggis: Big Ben had more passing attempts than Matt Ryan and Tony Romo in 2008.
Nathan Zegura: I know TO is gone, but Witten, Roy, the RBs and Crayton/Austin/bennett still give Romo some great weapons.
Nick Pagliuca: Just saw news Steve Smith carted off at practice today, not sure if it has been talked about yet, but has anyone heard anything?
Tom Kessenich: nothing yet. might be a shoulder
Nick Pagliuca: Thanks
Tom Kessenich: x-rays negative on his shoulder
Jeff Boggis: Smith immediately grabbed his right arm, but the type of injury wasn't immediately clear.
Nathan Zegura: Benson is a great value in the 7th
John Tuvey: oh no, it's not his punching shoulder is it?
Jeff Boggis: Smith immediately grabbed his right arm, but the type of injury wasn't immediately clear.
(Commish): Question from e-mail: is roy williams a true #1 wr for the cowboys
Nick Pagliuca: Yes, but Witten is still Romo's go to guy
Jeff Boggis: The four-time Pro Bowl receiver fell to the turf after getting tangled with cornerback Chris Gamble early in Monday evening's workout. He winced, took off his helmet and kicked it before walking to a nearby tent. He was then taken inside.
Jason McCoy: Roy Williams is not a proven #1 to me
Jeff Boggis: Hope the helmet is OK.
(Commish): Love Felix there
Brian Swaw: I like Benson this year...great opportunity
Brian Swaw: like Felix too
Jason McCoy: Marc, great pick with Felix
Tom Kessenich: i love felix this year. was really hoping he'd fall to me in this round
Nick Pagliuca: If Carson can bounce back healthy, I like the Bengals O
Nathan Zegura: good value on Santana there
(Commish): I still worry about the Cincy O-line
Marc Caviglia: thanks guys
Mike Jones: Williams has been a number 1 wr his whole life. He's going to be in his dream situation. Gotta think he'll play inspired, but they have to get him involved early
Jason McCoy: Good pick with Santana Moss Marc
Marc Caviglia: What I like about Felix is that he should be able to see plenty more targets in the passing game
Nick Pagliuca: Yup, nice pick with Santana, he's the #1 butalways goes late
Marc Caviglia: Yep NIck and alot of that has to do with his terrible 2nd half od last season
Jason McCoy: Good value with Breaston Sherpa
Mike Jones: He still avg 6 receptions a game in last 3
Marc Caviglia: but never found the end zone after being fantasy gold the first 9 weeks - which is why people are shying away from him
Jason McCoy: Tuvey is listening to Paul
(Commish): That's an ugly board
(Commish): Question from e-mail: who that has been drafted has the most potential to jump up between now and week one
Jeff Boggis: Steve Smith's backup Mushin Muhammad!
Jason McCoy: Derrick Ward could see an increase in value if he performs in the pre-season
Nathan Zegura: Westbrook could make a little jump if he is healthy. I think now you'll see a lot of guys fall more than rise due to injury, a coaching decision about someone's role etc
(Commish): I think Felix Jones can go much higher
Scott Swanay: The starting RB in Indy, whoever that turns out to be.
(Commish): A couple electric plays in the preseason could give him a huge bump
Jeff Boggis: Brown the rookie from UCONN
Tom Kessenich: I could see Ray Rice being a Top 20 pick
Tom Kessenich: Top 20 RB pick I mean
Nick Pagliuca: Homer pick with Bradshaw - but Giants like to shuffle the backs and Bradshaw can catch ball out of backfield
Brian Swaw: I agree Ray Rice
(Commish): Question from e-mail: will greg olson be a top 5 or top 10 te?
Brian Swaw: top 10 for sure...should be close to top 5
Nick Pagliuca: Bradshaw = see Ward last year, Giants focus on the run
Nathan Zegura: Absolutel
(Commish): Like Fred there
Scott Swanay: I think Olsen's top 10, but not top 5.
Tom Kessenich: Should be money for the first 3 games at least
(Commish): Like Graham, too
Tom Kessenich: i would've liked him to fall one more round
Nathan Zegura: Easy schedule and at least he is a "starter"
(Commish): As we enter Round 10, I'd like to open the floor to our experts to promote their fine sites and what they have to offer

Nick Pagliuca: I like Show Me Your TD's
Nathan Zegura: Beaver Fever is one of my favorites
Brian Swaw: Check out Gametimedecisions.net for the web's only weekly $5 Fantasy Football Game "Pick Five" Fantasy Football. Weekly cash prizes start at $1000

Scott Swanay: Favorite team name: Rae Carruth's Revenge.
Nick Pagliuca: Ill take a stab at Crabtree at this point
(Commish): Interesting -- Morgan ahead of Crabtree. I'm thinking that is going to stick
John Tuvey: At www.TheHuddle.com, you can use the new myHuddle feature to create and save your league scoring systems and apply them to our cheat sheets and projected stats.
(Commish): Nice pick, Tom
Tom Kessenich: not much left at WR I like so I might as well roll with a starter on a good team
Jeff Boggis: Fantasy Sports Empires.com draft kit and spreadsheet for only $4.99 with free updates up to the beginning of the NFL season! http://FantasySportsEmpires.com
(Commish): Question from e-mail: who will ultimately win the WR1 position in Chicago catching the most fantasy points from Cutler? AND when is the best round to select this WR1(assuming 12 team draft)?
Tom Kessenich: Steve Smith doubtful for the preseason
(Commish): Yikes!
(Commish): Think Earl Bennett is my favorite Chicago WR
(Commish): The Vanderbilt connection
Brian Swaw: I think you cant really go wrong with where Hester or Bennett are going...not a whole lot of risk and somone has to catch the passes
(Commish): Question from e-mail: is reggie wayne a 1st round pick?
Tom Kessenich: In one of my expert leagues, my top 3 WRs are Steve Smith, Brandon Marshall and Donnie Avery. I might just punt that league now :)
Jason McCoy: I think Wayne is a 2nd round pick
Chris Jackson: Reggie Wayne 2nd rd
John Tuvey: Agreed, Wayne's a 2nd
(Commish): Question from AIM: what to do in the later rounds, grab upside guys are mediocre guys?
Jason McCoy: Upside all the way
(Commish): Like Norwood there
Scott Swanay: Thanks on Norwood, Geoff.
Chris Jackson: Agree upside
Brian Swaw: like norwood as well..nice pick
Scott Swanay: Later rounds I'd prefer upside, but who wouldn't?
(Commish): Same with Charles -- nice pick
John Tuvey: Later rounds you can make sure your bye weeks are covered
(Commish): Question from AIM: deepest and thinest position this year
Jason McCoy: deepest is RB, thinest is TE
(Commish): I love TE this year
Scott Swanay: depends on roster requirements - in this format, I think QB & RB are deepest, WR thins out quickly.
Marc Caviglia: Great Draft so far gang and nice questions from the viewers
(Commish): Edwards ahead of Eli -- interesting
Marc Caviglia: Hope we are entertaining you
John Tuvey: Edwards has more targets to throw to
Jason McCoy: I like Edwards better than Eli
(Commish): May be a battle for the No. 1 QB in the state of New York
Nick Pagliuca: Gotta represent Monmouth U with Miles
(Commish): Question from e-mail: after the big 3 who will be the best QB'S
Scott Swanay: Matt Ryan & Matt Schaub.
Jason McCoy: I think Matt Schaub could have a top 5 year
John Tuvey: I think Rodgers is a closer #4 than most give him credit for
Brian Swaw: Rodgers..and I like Palmer to bounce back
(Commish): Good pick, Nick
Nick Pagliuca: I love Rodgers this year
(Commish): Some interesting sleepers starting to pop up
Chris Jackson: Nice pick on Davis
(Commish): Maroney was worth a shot there, too
Jason McCoy: Good pick Nathan with Celek
Nathan Zegura: drafting bradley KC
(Commish): >
(Commish): ?
(Commish): Brian going after my heart with Harrison
Brian Swaw: had to do it for you
Nathan Zegura: whatever Celek is fine....my net kicked me out for a second
(Commish): What a sweet heart
(Commish): Oh, sorry
Chris Jackson: They just don't let Harrison touch the ball
(Commish): Romeo didn't
(Commish): Think Mangenius will
Chris Jackson: Yeah - I hope ha gets a llok
Chris Jackson: look
(Commish): Me too
(Commish): I've drafted him a lot this preseason
(Commish): Avery and Clayton -- do you have mysterious healing powers, Jeff?
Marc Caviglia: Whate are everyones thoughts on Fred Taylor. Bellicheck looks to play matchups all season at RB, in a standard league where do you draft him? I think alot of viewers would like to know what everyone drafting is thinking
Jason McCoy: I think getting Taylor at this point could pay off for you
Marc Caviglia: Obviously Taylor has more value in standard leagues, but I am not targeting him until my RB4 or RB5 in standard leagues
John Tuvey: you just have to know when that three-game stretch is where Belichick will make him the workhorse
(Commish): Meachem -- nice!
Marc Caviglia: John - true to that!
John Tuvey: I'm coming up on my one-year coin for having written Meachem off; you can't pull me back in.
Mike Jones: he's got a shot, in that offense, that's all I'll ask for
Scott Swanay: I'd look at Fred Taylor around Round 10 - again, durability is the main issue with him.
Jason McCoy: Meacham is a nice pick
Marc Caviglia: Yep Scott - that's why we call him Fragile Fred
(Commish): Meachem or Dwayne Jarrett -- one of them has to do something for me!
(Commish): Question from e-mail: Hey guys! Do you think Torry Holt could be have big value in PPR formats being the number one guy in Jacksonville? Thanks and Go Vikings!
Scott Swanay: Yes, I think Holt is undervalued going into this season.
Mike Jones: Torry Holt thinks that Torry Holt will bounce back now that Torry Holt isn't with that sadsack ST. Louis squad
Mike Jones: according to Torry Holt
Brian Swaw: Yes I do...they have no one else, and he is crafty enough to catch 80 passes there
John Tuvey: Big value seems optimistic, but the Jags have a better receiving corps than they've had since Smith retired. Which isn't saying much, but...
Scott Swanay: Can probably get Holt in round 6 or 7 in most leagues using this format - think he might be a round or two better than that based on his production this year.
John Tuvey: Charch?
John Tuvey: Who's drafting for you?
Paul Charchian: I know!
Paul Charchian: Head trauma, I tell you
(Commish): Question from e-mail: are the jets a sleeper def?
(Commish): Like them as long as Jenkins is healthy
Brian Swaw: for sure...their Special teams is solid as well
(Commish): Dude takes up space
Jason McCoy: Jets are a good defense
Mike Jones: Any new news on the Mike Walker injury?
(Commish): Fargas is good value there
(Commish): Seems pretty late for him
John Tuvey: The first team that loses a RB to a torn ACL during training camp will be knocking at Al Davis' door
John Tuvey: Just hope Al is awake to hear the knocking
Tom Kessenich: walker's injury isn't supposed to be serious
Mike Jones: man, if that guy didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all it seems
Jason McCoy: Marc, nice pick with Branch, could pay off big
(Commish): Like Brandon Jackson
Marc Caviglia: Thanks Jason - worth the risk this late. Esp. since the Seahawks are in a bad defensive division and someone needs to be the WR2 out there (him or Burleson)
(Commish): Good for some catches, at the very least
Marc Caviglia: my only question mark with Branch is health
Jason McCoy: Scott, great pick with Brandon Jackson
Scott Swanay: Thanks on Brandon Jackson, Jason & Geoff.
Jason McCoy: Marc, at this point in the draft, everyone has question marks
(Commish): Question from e-mail:In a 10 team PPR I am picking out of the 1 hole. I almost feel obligated to go WR/WR on the 2/3 turn due to the few actual elite WR's available, and we are a start 3 WR no flex league. How much value would I lose by going with a top tier 2 RB like Ronnie Brown at 3.1?
Scott Swanay: I think you'd still be okay w/ Brown at 3.1, but you'd probably have to load up on WRs on your bench to help compensate.
Jason McCoy: I think you lose a LOT of value in a PPR if you go RB with your 2nd pick
(Commish): Agreed, Scott. Think I'd go WR at 2.10 and 3.1
Scott Swanay: Take shots w/ rookies like Maclin, Harvin, Nicks, etc.
(Commish): Question from e-mail: 12 team league with 6 pts for all TDs. I drew the #1 pick. When should I target a QB?
Mike Jones: man, took A. Brown right off the top of my list
Scott Swanay: I'd hold off on QB until round 7 or 8 - don't think the drop-off is as steep at QB as it is at other positions.
Nathan Zegura: they think he is ward #2
(Commish): It's very likely the Big-3 will be gone by 2.12
Jason McCoy: I would look for a QB in the 4th or 5th in a TD league with 6 pts per TD
(Commish): And 2.12/3.1 is probably too high for Rodgers, Rivers or Warner
Jason McCoy: Paul are you smoking crack tonight?
(Commish): Question from e-mail: I drafted Dallas Clark over Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez in my PPR league. Am I overvaluing him this year?
Jason McCoy: Charch that is
Jason McCoy: You are overvaluing Clark a little there
Brian Swaw: Gates-Clark-Gonzo IMO
Scott Swanay: I agree w/ Brian.
(Commish): Think Peyton has some more talent to work with this year
(Commish): Clark's catches could go down some
(Commish): Getting into the sleepers now
(Commish): Like Garcon there
Scott Swanay: Clark's catches will depend on how quickly Garcon & Collie develop.
(Commish): Agreed
(Commish): Big Collie fan
Marc Caviglia: I love Collie - big non Mormom BYU fan here
Mike Jones: count me there too
Marc Caviglia: nice pick Brian - had Coffee targeted
Jason McCoy: Coffee is a great pick
Jeff Boggis: Is Matt Jones even playing this season?
(Commish): Really think Gore handcuffers will bump Coffee up quite a bit in the next few weeks
(Commish): Lot of room to move up there
Brian Swaw: yea...prob should have taken him a little earlier
Scott Swanay: I'm betting Jones signs somewhere - Jets could sure use him.
Jason McCoy: Scott, I think Matt Jones will get on a team
Scott Swanay: At this point, there's not a lot of downside.
Scott Swanay: It was either him or someone like Sidney Rice or Juaquin Iglesias.
Jason McCoy: I like Sidney Rice but I think Matt Jones has more potential to get more catches
Scott Swanay: Nice, Brian.
(Commish): Like Coffman, too
Brian Swaw: what better place to be mediocre than Detroit, right?
Scott Swanay: Thanks, Geoff - he might be the last man standing in Cincy.
Jeff Boggis: Vick may sign with Buffalo. This is a pooch per reception (PPR) league right?
Jason McCoy: Vick
Brian Swaw: zing
Scott Swanay: Pooch punt.
(Commish): That was horrible, Jeff. Yet I smiled
Jason McCoy: I think Jeff just wants Tony and Paul to talk about him
Jeff Boggis: Why, Tony and Paul will just botch my last name!
(Commish): I've been drafting Rice way too early
(Commish): Charch has the Colts No. 3 locked up -- not a bad idea
Marc Caviglia: there is goes... Austin Collie
Jeff Boggis: Tony and Paul do a great job at what they do by the way!
Marc Caviglia: Collie was a stud at BYU, 100 yards and a TD every week. now that was the MWC and not the NFL but he has great hands
Marc Caviglia: and Peyton makes everyone look good
Scott Swanay: Imagine if Michael Vick were throwing to Collie.
John Tuvey: very nice, Scott
Scott Swanay: Phone just rang - it's the ASPCA.
(Commish): Question from e-mail: Is Leon Washington worth starting in PPR format considering they have Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene?
Jason McCoy: No, Washington is not worth starting
Mike Jones: If the Jets keep their promise to get Washington 300 touches, I would think yes as a flex
(Commish): In a 2 RB, 3 WR, Flex league -- I think so
Scott Swanay: Depends on roster requirements - in this league, I think he'd be a reserve.
Brian Swaw: I dont think you can draft him as your #3, no
Nick Pagliuca: Washington is focus of Jets O
Nick Pagliuca: and Thomas Jones is on the way down
Nick Pagliuca: Washington obviously better in PPR than non
(Commish): As we get into the final round, I'd like to thank our experts for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us for tonight's draft
Paul Charchian: So, my attempt at starting a kicker run in R14 didn't work.
Nick Pagliuca: Thank you, it's been fun
(Commish): Huge thanks to our viewers, as well, especially those who sent in questions
Brian Swaw: Thanks Geoff..great draft guys
(Commish): Full chat transcript will be posted along with the results
Scott Swanay: Great job as always, Geof!
