In January of 2004, the Grand Angels was started and began to fulfill its mission of utilizing its financial, intellectual and networking capital to promote the success of young growing companies and to enhance the economic development of West Michigan.

In 2005 Jody Vanderwel agreed to lead the organization as its initial President, enabling the group to move from a member-led to a manager-led organization.

Join us as Jody shares her insight into the world of angel investment and what Grand Angels looks for in potential investment opportunities. In addition, to demonstrate the type of companies and opportunities that Grand Angels has invested in, Jason Pliml, president of Mock Draft Central will join Jody in speaking of his experience with angel investments. Mock Draft Central is a site dedicated to fantasy sports draft preparation.

The Grand Angels is the only regional investment group that offers mentoring paired with a relatively patient exit strategy – meaning invested funds may not need to be returned as quickly as would be expected by commercial or other investors. While Grand Angels investments are not geographically limited, the major focus is Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties.

Join us for five dynamic Lakeshore business leaders this season that will share, teach and offer a unique perspective on the entrepreneurial voyage.

The Lakeshore e2e events begin by offering a half hour of networking and then move into an hour conversation with the featured speaker. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the speaker from 6-7 p.m. Refreshments are provided and the entire event is free.
